UNITED NATIONS SAID
The United Nations said that Russia’s invasion in Ukraine has caused a record rise in food prices in a decade and a half around the world, and warned that the poorest countries will be hit the hardest.
According to the FAO, a U.N. organization working to prevent global hunger, food prices have risen by a third since the previous year, mainly due to disruptions in grain supplies from Ukraine and Russia.
Nearly fifty countries cover one-third of their grain import needs thanks to Ukraine and Russia.
